Event coverage

The moments that remain after an event

How to plan coverage that tells the whole story.

The moments that remain after an event

When an event ends, its photographs and films become the experience for people who were not there. Useful coverage combines the setting, the important moments and the details that give the occasion its character. It is more than a large collection of shots.

Turn the schedule into priorities

Share the programme early and identify moments that cannot be repeated: an opening, a keynote, an award or a particular interaction. Explain why each matters so the team can make informed choices when several things happen at once.

Combine three kinds of view

  • The overall setting: location, identity and scale.
  • Interaction: speakers, participants and audience response.
  • Details: the smaller elements that make the event distinct.

Plan the publication before filming

Do you need photographs during the event, a summary film afterwards or short vertical clips? Agree on uses and expected delivery points before production. Nominate one contact for practical coordination and feedback.

Prepare access information, important locations, programme timings and a list of the elements that must be covered. Clear priorities help the team choose images that belong to the story of the event.
